Over 1 in 4 Pennsylvania residents had a German background in 2010, making it the state's largest ethnic group. Also noteworthy is the state's home grown ancestral background, the Pennsylvania Germans. At over 164,000 residents, they form Pennsylvania's 15th largest ethnic group.
