A significant French influence remains in Louisiana: French and French Canadian are the 2nd and 8th largest ethnic backgrounds, respectively. Also noteworthy is the Cajun population, the 10th largest ancestry in Louisiana. African-Americans are the state's largest ethnic group, at 31% of the population.
