Gottscheers

Gottscheers are a German speaking immigrant group that hail from what is now Slovenia. The Gottscheers were uprooted from their homeland after World War II. Many settled in New York City. Each year they celebrate their culture in at a "Volkfest" in Long Island, a tradition that has continued for nearly 70 years.
